This project transforms a typical apartment in a 1960s Soviet residential building into a home that responds not only to contemporary living but also to the possibility of future change. The most significant intervention was the reconfiguration of the central part of the apartment. The former tiny kitchen was combined with the dining area, creating a spacious social room, allowing daylight to travel much deeper into the apartment. Adjacent to the dining area is a multi-functional room enclosed by a glass partition. In its current configuration, it serves as a home office positioned in front of the window. A large mirror amplifies natural light and visually extends the room. The beauty of this solution lies in its adaptability: if the family's needs change, the glass partition can be removed to create a generous living room connected to the kitchen, while the existing living room can become a second bedroom. This area is divided from a hallway by a large wardrobe rather than the walls for maximum use of space. This volume integrates storage for clothing and shoes together with technical equipment. In both rooms the doors are concealed within the wardrobes to eliminate awkward corners and give the spaces a more monumental and cohesive character. The living room incorporates a second workspace alongside a custom furniture unit that houses speakers, a vinyl player, storage, and even a dedicated niche for the family dog, Myshka. Above this composition, space has been reserved for a concealed motorized projection screen. The interior language relies on bold color blocking to define functional zones. A warm butter-colored base is contrasted with deep green volumes. Slender metal details, subtle ethnic accents and dedicated places for plants create a characterful yet timeless atmosphere.
